Jim Kinney of Chicago Installed as President of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®

WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 8, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — REALTOR® Jim Kinney, ABR, CRB, CRS, GRI, of Chicago has been installed as the 2015 President of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®. He is Vice-President of Luxury Home Sales for Baird & Warner in Chicago.

With a real estate career that spans more than 30 years, Kinney has a history of service and involvement to the REALTOR® organization. He was named REALTOR® of the Year by the Chicago Association of REALTORS® in 2002 and Illinois REALTOR® of the Year by the Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR) in 2004.

Kinney has been active with the Chicago Association of REALTORS®, serving on the board of directors and committees and task forces including: Strategic Planning, Multiple Listing Service, Sales Awards, Nominating, Member Outreach and Technology.

On a statewide level, Kinney has held leadership roles with the Finance and Strategic Planning committees, Technology Working Group, REALTOR® Institute Working Group, Convention and Inaugural Banquet Working Group and was a four-time chairman of the REALTOR® of the Year Committee. He has lent his expertise to the Executive Committee, the Professional Development, Business Issues/License Law, Economic Development, Education and Community Development Resource working groups and the Big Brokers Council. He is chairman of IAR’s Hydraulic Fracturing Task Force.

An advocate for education, Kinney is a former dean of the REALTOR® Institute of Illinois and a past president of the Real Estate Educational Foundation (REEF). In 2002, REEF established a scholarship in Kinney’s name in recognition of his distinguished service to the foundation. He is a past president of the Illinois Chapter of the Council of Residential Specialists. Kinney has earned the designations of Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Graduate REALTORS® Institute (GRI).

In 2015, Kinney will serve as chair of the IAR Executive Committee, National Association of REALTORS® Political Advisory Working Group and will lead the state association’s Board of Directors.

At the national level, Kinney has served on the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Executive Committee, the NAR Board of Directors, the Institute Advisory Committee, International Operations Committee and is a past NAR Presidential Liaison to Ireland. He is a member of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) and is a past president of the National Board of the Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers. He currently serves on NAR’s Board of Directors and the Global Business and Alliances Committee.

A graduate of Northwestern University, Kinney is President Emeritus of the Advisory Board of the Illinois Eye Bank and is a former volunteer leader with the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association and the Bright Promises Foundation.

Installation ceremonies were conducted at the Illinois Association of REALTORS® Inaugural Gala on Sept. 6 at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. Other 2015 officers installed were President-Elect Mike Drews, Broker-Associate with Charles B. Doss & Co. in Aurora and Treasurer Doug Carpenter, ABR, AHWD, SFR, Managing Broker of Coldwell Banker Honig-Bell in Orland Hills.

The Illinois Association of REALTORS® is a voluntary trade association whose 41,000 members are engaged in all facets of the real estate industry. In addition to serving the professional needs of its members, the Illinois Association of REALTORS® works to protect the rights of private property owners in the state by recommending and promoting legislation which safeguards and advances the interest of real property ownership.
