Sue Miller named Illinois REALTOR® of the Year for outstanding industry leadership, service

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – (RealEstateRama) — REALTOR® Sue Miller, ABR, BPOR, CRS, GRI, ePro, PMN, SFR, SRS, of McHenry, has been named the 2017 Illinois REALTOR® of the Year by the Illinois REALTORS®. She is the managing broker of Coldwell Banker Honig-Bell in McHenry.

The announcement was made during the association’s Public Policy Meetings held Jan. 23-26, at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Riverfront Conference Center in East Peoria, Ill. Miller will be honored at a June 6 banquet in Springfield.

The REALTOR® of the Year award is presented to an association member who best exemplifies the professional qualities of a REALTOR®. The award recognizes leadership in the REALTOR® Association as well as service to civic, community and charitable causes.

“Sue is a leader who can always be counted on to get involved and make a difference not only in the REALTOR® organization, but also in her local community. Her dedication to industry education, professionalism and advocacy sets an example for others to follow,” said Doug Carpenter, ABR, AHWD, GRI, SFR, president of the Illinois REALTORS®.

During a real estate career that spans 30 years, Miller has been actively involved in the REALTOR® association at the local, state and national levels and has served in a variety of leadership capacities. A member of the Heartland REALTOR® Organization, she has served two terms as president of her local association and was twice named its local REALTOR® of the year.

An industry trainer as well as REALTOR®, Miller is committed to promoting education, ethics and professional development. She has served multiple terms as chair of the Education Working Group and is a long-time member of the REEF board of directors.

Miller understands the power a strong REALTOR® political advocacy program can have on the industry and is a “Sterling R” contributor to the REALTORS® Political Action Committee. She is one of a select few who have been honored with the Illinois REALTORS® Distinguished Service Award.

At the national level, Miller has served on the National Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors and has served on a variety of committees including: Equal Opportunity-Cultural Diversity, Real Property Valuation, Land Use Property Rights and Environment and Federal Financing and Housing Policy. She is a member of the Women’s Council of REALTORS®, the Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers and the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council. She is a past president of the Illinois Chapter of the Council of Residential Specialists.

A resident of McHenry, Miller is committed to giving back to her community. She is a longtime member of the McHenry Elementary Education Foundation and the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce, which honored her as its “Woman of Accomplishment” in 2016. She has held leadership positions with the McHenry Nunda Public Library District, Riverside Area Business Association and the nonprofit community growth planning group, Imagine McHenry County.

The Illinois REALTORS® is a voluntary trade association whose more than 44,000 members are engaged in all facets of the real estate industry. In addition to serving the professional needs of its members, the association works to protect the rights of private property owners in the state by recommending and promoting legislation that safeguards and advances the interest of real property ownership
