“Families in Illinois and throughout our country continue to face serious economic challenges,” said Duckworth. “Illinois ranks 4th in the nation with an 8.7% unemployment rate and a poverty rate that nearly doubled to 9.2% in my congressional district over the last decade. These HUD grants are a small but important investment in our community and its workforce. The taxpayers of Illinois contribute more than their fair share to the Federal government and I am pleased to see that resources are coming back to the 8th Congressional District.”
