Congresswoman Duckworth Announces HUD Grant for Des Plaines

WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 25, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Today, Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (IL-08) announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded a $278,375 Community Development Block Grant to Des Plaines, Illinois. The grant helps further develop urban communities by creating better living environments and increasing economic opportunities for low- and moderate- income persons.

“By supporting the development and growth of our strong communities, this grant will boost the local economy and create quality jobs,” said Congresswoman Duckworth. “Des Plaines suffered damage from severe flooding earlier in the year and I am glad to see an investment being made there to help it rebuild. The taxpayers of Illinois contribute more than their fair share to the Federal government and I am pleased to see that resources are coming back to the 8th Congressional District.”
