Doug Carpenter Installed as President of Illinois REALTORS
WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — REALTOR® Doug Carpenter, ABR, AHWD, GRI, SFR, of Mokena has been installed as the 2017 President of Illinois REALTORS®. He is the managing broker of Coldwell Banker Honig-Bell in Orland Hills.
Active in the real estate industry since 1985, Carpenter has been involved in all levels of the REALTOR® organization. He twice served as president of his local association and his industry experience also includes serving as CEO of the Three Rivers Association of REALTORS®. He currently is a member of the Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS®.
At the state level, Carpenter has contributed his talents to numerous committees, working groups and task forces with a particular emphasis on professional standards, governmental affairs, advocacy and education. He has chaired the association’s Finance Committee, REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) Trustees, Business Issues/License Law Working Group and the Professional Standards Committee among others.
Carpenter is a longtime member of the Illinois REALTORS® Board of Directors and was the 2009 recipient of the Illinois REALTORS® Distinguished Service Award. The award honors individuals who have provided outstanding contributions and service to Illinois REALTORS® and the local community. In 2017, he will chair Illinois REALTORS®’ Executive Committee, the NAR Political Advisory Working Group, Strategic Thinkers Working Group and will lead the state’s association’s Board of Directors.
REALTOR® education has always been a priority for Carpenter, who is a licensed continuing education instructor. He served as president of the Real Estate Educational Foundation, a not-for-profit organization established to aid and promote the work of real estate education throughout Illinois, in 2009 and 2010. He has earned the professional Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR) and Graduate, REALTOR® Institute designations and the At Home With Diversity (AHWD) and Short Sales & Foreclosure Resource (SFR) certifications.
On the national level, Carpenter has been involved with the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) as a longtime member of the NAR Board of Directors and also currently serves as a member of the Membership Policy and Board Jurisdiction and Risk Management committees. He is among an elite group of REALTOR® association members nationwide whose monetary contributions have earned them a spot on the RPAC Hall of Fame in NAR’s Washington, D.C., offices. In 2002, he was the first REALTOR® from Illinois to earn such an honor.
Carpenter is a native of Rockford, Illinois and graduated from Harlem High School. In his local community, Carpenter raises money for the American Cancer Society and is active in his church, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oak Lawn, where he has served as senior organist.
Installation ceremonies were conducted at the Illinois REALTORS® Inaugural Gala on Oct. 6 at the Chicago Marriott Naperville in Naperville, Illinois. Other 2017 officers are President-elect Matt Difanis, ABR, GRI, a co-owner of RE/MAX Realty Associates, with offices in Champaign, Mahomet and Monticello; and Treasurer Dan Wagner, senior vice president for government relations at the Oak Brook-based Inland Real Estate Group of Companies, Inc.
