Ed Neaves receives award for political leadership from Illinois Association of REALTORS®
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – February 4, 2016 – (RealEstateRama) — REALTOR® Edwin (Ed) Neaves has received the 2015 Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR) Political Involvement Award. Neaves is the managing broker of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Snyder Real Estate in Bloomington.
The award is given to individuals for outstanding political and legislative service to the REALTOR® organization. The announcement was made at the association’s Public Policy Meetings held at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Riverfront Conference Center in East Peoria, Ill., Jan. 18-21.
Neaves is committed to fostering grassroots involvement and political advocacy in the REALTOR® community at the local, state and national level. He is a major investor in the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) and a member of the RPAC President’s Circle.
“Ed knows firsthand how important it is for REALTORS® to get involved and advocate on behalf of the policy and political issues that affect the real estate industry. He has been a leader in helping Illinois REALTORS® fine-tune and fast-track our member political involvement program over the past five years,” said Mike Drews, GRI, president of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®.
Neaves currently chairs IAR’s Major Investor Working Group and in 2015, chaired the REALTORS® Political Involvement Committee. In 2015, he led IAR’s first REALTOR® Political Involvement Committee Strategic Planning Session, a training session aimed at helping local associations build political involvement. IAR’s efforts were recognized with NAR’s REALTOR® Party Member Involvement Committee Chairman’s Award in November 2015.
He has served on a variety of IAR committees and working groups including: Strategic Planning Committee, Public Policy and Government Affairs Member Involvement Group, Political Fundraising Working Group, Strategic Thinkers Working Group, Leadership Development Working Group and RPAC Trustees. For the National Association of REALTORS®, he has served on the REALTOR® Party Member Involvement Committee since 2013.
Neaves helps strengthen REALTOR® relationships with elected officials by serving as the Federal Political Coordinator for U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Channahon) and is the State Legislative Contact for Illinois Sen. Jason Barickman (R-Bloomington).
Neaves is the 2016 president-elect of the Bloomington-Normal Association of REALTORS® and is a past recipient of the local association’s REALTOR® of the Year award. He served as president of the Bloomington-Normal Area Home Builders Association in 2012-2013.
The Illinois Association of REALTORS® is a voluntary trade organization representing more than 44,000 members engaged in all facets of the real estate industry.
