NAPERVILLE, IL – (RealEstateRama) — Last night, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) hosted an interfaith panel discussion on how our communities can effectively oppose hatred, prejudice, and bigotry.
More than 200 people were on hand to hear from a panel of local religious leaders and members of the Naperville community.
“Over the past several months, we’ve unfortunately seen a spike in acts of hatred and bigotry across our country and even in our own community,” Foster said. “But those who perpetrate these abhorrent, bigoted actions don’t represent the overwhelming majority of our people who have repeatedly stood against these acts of hate. I am proud that so many people came together to show support for members of our community and the right of everyone to live in a country free of discrimination and fear.”
The panel included Rabbi Marc Rudolph of Congregation Beth Shalom; Rev. Grace Imathiu of the Community United Methodist Church of Naperville; Rizwan Ali of the Islamic Center of Naperville; Rabbi Noam Marans, National Director of Interreligious and Intergroup Relations at the American Jewish Committee; Howard Bender, a Naperville business owner; and Bernie Newman of the Naperville Interfaith Leaders Association.
