Gerald Perlow receives award for political leadership from Illinois Association of REALTORS®

SPRINGFIELD, IL – January 28, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — REALTOR® and appraiser Gerald N. Perlow, CPM, CRB, GRI, MAI, senior consultant with Property Valuation Services in the Chicago area, received the Illinois Association of REALTORS® Political Involvement Award Jan. 23.

The award was given for outstanding political and legislative service to the REALTOR® organization. The announcement was made at the association’s Public Policy Meetings held at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Riverfront Conference Center in East Peoria, Ill., Jan. 22-24.

Perlow has been a REALTOR®, appraiser and property management consultant in the Chicagoland area and nationally for more than 30 years. An industry leader, he has served the REALTOR® community in a variety of ways at the local, state and national level.

He is a past president of the Chicago Board of REALTORS® (now the Chicago Association of REALTORS®) and led the state association as president of the Illinois Association of REALTORS® in 1991. Perlow was named Chicago REALTOR® of the Year in 1987 and Illinois REALTOR® of the Year in 1994.

“Jerry passionately believes in and advocates for the values of the REALTOR® organization, and he has consistently conveyed the position of the association to the many key leaders that he’s developed contacts with throughout the years,” said Michael D. Oldenettel, CRS, GRI, president of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®. “He has met with governors. He has taken our message to many powerful people who might not share our view and yet he does it in a very diplomatic way.”

Perlow, a resident of Glenview, is a past president of the Real Estate Educational Foundation and served on the Illinois Office of Banks and Real Estate Appraisal Board, including a term as vice chairman. He currently serves on the Real Estate Review Committee of the Illinois Secretary of State.

In 2005, he was inducted into the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) Hall of Fame and continues to be an RPAC Major Investor year after year. He received the Illinois Association of REALTORS® Presidential Medallion for outstanding service and contributions to the state association in 2002.

The Illinois Association of REALTORS® is a voluntary trade organization representing more than 41,000 members engaged in all facets of the real estate industry. In addition to serving the professional needs of its members, the association works to protect the rights of private property owners in the state by recommending and promoting legislation that safeguards and advances the interest of real property ownership.
