WASHINGTON – March 13, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senator Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) today released the following statement regarding the housing finance reform agreement announced by Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Johnson (D-S.D.) and Ranking Member Mike Crapo (R-Idaho):
“I am very encouraged that Senators Johnson and Crapo today released a set of principles – largely based on Senator Bob Corker’s (R-Tenn.) legislation which I cosponsored – as a foundation for housing finance reform. Senators Johnson and Crapo should be commended for keeping housing finance reform at the forefront of the Committee and considering varying opinions on a topic that has implications on taxpayers and the economy. Housing finance reform is complex but deserves our full commitment to restore our housing finance system to a fiscally sound and safe ground. I am very hopeful that we can move to a markup of this legislation as soon as possible.”
