QUIGLEY JOINS CONGRESSIONAL COLLEAGUES TO HIGHLIGHT IMPORTANCE OF TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE
CHICAGO – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD), joined Congressmen Cheri Bustos and Rodney Davis in a bi-partisan congressional panel with the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Council on Logistics and Transportation to discuss the importance of transportation and infrastructure in Illinois and efforts Congress is making to continue funding them.
“Transportation and infrastructure have served as the backbone of America’s economic success for generations. Streamlining our transportation systems by creating and funding infrastructure improvements which allow people and products to move quickly, efficiently, and cleanly across the country will be the key to ensuring America’s economy continues to lead in a changing world” said Rep. Quigley. “I’d like to thank the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce for hosting today’s panel on infrastructure and transportation in Illinois and for inviting me and my distinguished colleagues to come speak about the work Congress is doing and the work that still needs to be done.”
As Illinois’ only member on the House Appropriations Committee, Rep. Quigley has pushed for a long-term surface transportation bill and prioritized Chicago-area infrastructure investments as a member of the Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD). He has helped secure $35 million in Core Capacity grants to benefit CTA and over $100 million for projects to ease flooding in Cook County. Most recently he fought for increased funding for the TIGER grant program to benefit both highways and pedestrian projects.
