Callan named Illinois REALTOR® of the Year for outstanding industry leadership, service
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – February 3, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — REALTOR® Pat Callan, managing broker-owner of Realty Executives Premiere in Wheaton, has been named the 2014 Illinois REALTOR® of the Year by the Illinois Association of REALTORS®.
The announcement was made Jan. 22 at the association’s Public Policy Meetings held at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Riverfront Conference Center in East Peoria, Ill. Callan will be honored at an April 2 banquet at the Hilton Hotel in Springfield.
The REALTOR® of the Year award is presented to a member of the Illinois Association of REALTORS® who best exemplifies the professional qualities of a REALTOR®. The award recognizes leadership in the REALTOR® Association as well as service to civic, community and charitable causes.
“Pat leads by example and his long-time commitment to the REALTOR® organization has earned him the respect of his colleagues,” said Phil Chiles, ABR, CRS, GRI, SRES, president of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®. “He has donated his time and talents to countless committees and his expertise on financial issues has made him a sought-out leader at the local, state and national level.”
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Callan has been involved in the real estate industry for more than 40 years. A Certified Public Accountant as well as a residential and commercial REALTOR®, Callan led the Illinois Association of REALTORS® as its president in 2009.
Callan, who lives in Glen Ellyn, has been actively involved in the Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS® during his career and served as its president in 2000. He has twice been named REALTOR® of the Year by his local association and has frequently served on the association’s audit and strategic planning committees and the Financial Task Force.
For the Illinois Association of REALTORS®, Callan has held leadership roles as chair of the Advisory Council, Federal Political Coordinator Working Group, Business Issues/License Law Working Group, Finance Committee and multiple terms chairing the GSE Reform Task Force. He is a REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) Major Investor.
Active nationally, Callan serves on the National Association of REALTORS® Finance Committee, Multiple Listing Issues and Policies Committee and the Reserves Investment Advisory Board. He is a long-time member of the NAR Board of Directors and has also lent his expertise to NAR’s Federal Taxation Committee.
