Drinking Water Testing Services Available through Illinois EPA Laboratory
SPRINGFIELD – May 18, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Illinois Environmental Protection Agency Director Lisa Bonnett announced the Agency is offering drinking water testing services for Community Water Supplies for fiscal year 2016 (July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016). Through the Illinois EPA Community Water Supply Testing Program, water systems can elect to participate in the program for one complete fiscal year. The deadline for Community Water Supplies to enroll in the program and ensure no lapse in coverage is May 30, 2015. To participate after May 30 Water Supplies should contact the lab directly at (217) 782-9780 to make special arrangements.
Community Water Supplies can elect different participation levels. Full participation includes all drinking water testing required for the system for the upcoming fiscal year. A partial participation option commits the supply to a minimum of having the chemical analyses performed by the Illinois EPA laboratory, but the supply can opt in or out of the program for other tests.
“Illinois EPA takes great pride in meeting the needs of Community Water Supplies,” said Director Bonnett. “The Illinois EPA laboratory is certified by the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP), U.S. EPA and the Illinois Department of Public Health. The lab provides accurate and timely results at competitive prices.”
The annual fee for the program is determined by the scheduled drinking water testing specific to each Community Water Supply and the options the system has selected. The fee covers the cost of drinking water analyses for the entire fiscal year. Water systems have the option of having laboratory results sent to them by email.
