Illinois home sellers to open their doors for REALTOR® Nationwide Open House Weekend June 4-5
SPRINGFIELD, IL – June 2, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Look for the bright blue balloons and open house signs dotting local neighborhoods this weekend as REALTORS® in Illinois and around the country host the nation’s largest open house event, June 4 and 5.
During REALTOR® Nationwide Open House Weekend, home sellers will open their doors to take advantage of the opportunity to showcase their homes during this high visibility weekend. Illinois buyers are invited to visit the open houses in their community to learn more about homeownership and see the supply of homes available.
REALTORS® will be on hand during the open house event to offer buyers insight into the local housing market and answer questions about the home buying and selling process.
Consumers place great value in the benefits of homeownership. Eight in 10 adults agree that buying a home is the best long-term investment a person can make, according to a recent Pew Research Center study. Eighty-one percent of renters surveyed by Pew said they would prefer to one day buy a home.
Home sales have a significant economic impact on the Illinois economy. Total direct expenditures per home sale in Illinois is $28,581 for a total of $3.2 billion in annual expenditures for all home sales in the state, according to a study recently released by the Illinois Association of REALTORS®.
