U.S. Representatives Bobby L. Rush (D-Ill.) and Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.) introduced a bill to amend the Safe Drinking Water Act. This bill would establish a $50 million grant program within EPA that would allow local education agencies and districts to replace lead service lines and lead solder used in school plumbing. This bill is a companion to an earlier bill Rush introduced that would provide grants to schools to replace older water tanks manufactured prior to 1988

Durbin Announces Federal Funding For Rural Community Development In North Central Illinois
U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) today announced $151,500 in federal funding for the North Central Illinois Council of Governments to support rural community development projects. Today’s funding, provided through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Community Development Initiative Grant, will provide assistance to benefit 27 lower-income communities located in six surrounding counties: Bureau, Grundy, LaSalle, Livingston, Marshall, Putnam, and Stark.
Kreg Allison Unanimously Confirmed as Illinois Real Estate Director
The Illinois Senate unanimously confirmed Kreg Allison as the Director of the Division of Real Estate (DRE) for the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) recently. Kreg Allison was appointed Director of the DRE by Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner in January 2016.

Lipinski Announces Grant for Access Routes to New Metra Station in Romeoville
Congressman Dan Lipinski (IL-3) is announcing a $296,700 grant from the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program to fund access routes to Romeoville’s new Metra station near 135th and New Avenue. The grant, which comes from federal government funds, will be used to complete a path for walking and biking south of 135th Street and help pay for the installation of lighting along the multi-use path, a nearby access road, sidewalks, platforms, and a warming shelter
Changes at Illinois Executive Mansion for Renovation
The Governor's Office announced today the Illinois Executive Mansion will close to the public in January 2017 for renovations. "The People's House will undergo an extensive transformation over the next year," First Lady Diana Rauner said. "In order to properly preserve the building as quickly and efficiently as possible, we will close the building to the public during the renovations.
