U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD), along with U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), U.S. Representatives Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-08), Brad Schneider (IL-10), and Danny Davis (IL-07), met with Illinois Tollway Chairman Bob Schillerstrom to express their support for the Tollway’s petition to the U.S. Surface Transportation Board (STB) regarding their ongoing dispute with Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) over the Elgin O’Hare Western Access (EOWA) project.
HUD AND NORTHERN ILLINOIS LENDER REACH FAIR LENDING SETTLEMENT
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today announced an agreement with Alpine Bank & Trust resolving allegations the Northern Illinois-based lender discriminated against African American and Hispanic mortgage applicants. HOPE Fair Housing Center of Wheaton, Illinois filed a complaint with HUD claiming the lender's business service areas excluded majority African-American and Hispanic neighborhoods.
